How do I locate a NARPM property manager to manage my property?

You may search among our members on our property manager page.

Why should I choose a NARPM member over any other property manager to manage my property?

NARPM members are professional property managers. There are times when people present themselves as property managers when in fact they are not or have not been so for very long. There is no special certification for property managers, so most anyone can decide to enter the field of property management with little or no experience. NARPM members must be professional property managers and those with designations must have a minimum number of property management unit years under their belt as well.

How do NARPM members differ from most other property managers?

There are many differences between NARPM members and property managers in general. NARPM members attend frequent meetings, network with other NARPM members on a local, state and national level, take educational seminars and classes and some even devote their time and talent to service to the organization and the community.
NARPM members have a professional, cooperative attitude, often sharing information, ideas and even forms to make each others' jobs easier and service to their clients better. When a NARPM member loses a property management account to another NARPM member, they cooperate in effecting a smooth transition for the client.
NARPM members consistently prove that they are more professional, more educated and overall more caring about the properties they manage. Property managers who join NARPM already go the extra mile to become affiliated with an organization which has minimum standards and a code of ethics to which they must abide.
In general, property managers must answer to the Department of Real Estate if a client complains, but members of NARPM also have that organization to answer to if a client is unhappy.

Why do some NARPM members have designations and some do not?

NARPM offers designations to those property managers who are willing to invest extra time and effort in the process. Doing so indicates that these property managers are often even more educated than those members who do not possess such designations. Besides educational requirements, these members participate in local, state and national events such as Conventions and courses and must also contribute their time and talents to the organization, the profession in general and the community at large.

What kinds of education is available to members?

Seminars offered vary from year to year. Classes for 2006 are free to all members. Examples of classes that have been offered include:
  • Basics of Property Management
  • Legal updates/Legislative Issues
  • Inspections/Security Deposit Refunds
  • How to Market and Advertise in a Tough Rental Market
  • Preparing for Court
  • Habitability Issues
  • Behavior and Communication Skills
  • New Technology
In addition, there are informal monthly meetings, bimonthly luncheon meetings of the membership at large which include a different speaker each time, and courses offered at the state and national conventions for designations as well as personal and professional growth.
