NARPM designations: RMP, MPM, CRMC and CSSThe Residential Property Management Professional (RMP) is awarded to professionals who have completed 18 hours of NARPM-approved course work, who have hands-on experience in the management of residential property, who have provided service to the national association, and who have attended a NARPM convention during the three years prior to completing candidacy.The Master Property Manager (MPM) designation is awarded to professionals who have received the RMP designation and have completed additional requirements as set forth by the Certification Committee. MPM candidates are required to make substantial contributions of time, talent and professional expertise to further advance the residential property management industry. MPM Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the management of residential property and must complete an additional 24 hours of NARPM MPM-Level course work. The Certified Residential Management Company (CRMC) designation is awarded to those professional property management firms that demonstrate a high standard in both procedures and customer service. A detailed examination of the company and recommendations from clients and peers are required for this designation. Certified Support Specialist (CSS®) designation is the newest certification available from NARPM. NARPM seeks to become the dominant source for educating and training Support Specialist in the residential property management industry. Virtually all requirements of the CSS Certification can be earned at the local level. Three educational courses will be required to earn this designation. Certification for Designations NARPM's designations are more than course-based certification. NARPM designations are earned with a combination of property management experience, NARPM and industry education, and service to the association through volunteer activities. You may have taken clock-hour courses to maintain your license. Imagine the gains when the courses are specifically focused on what you do as a property manager – and are being taught by a property management professional. Take it one step further and envision networking with other experienced property managers from across the country. Designations for Property Managers: RMP® & MPM®. Residential Management Professional (RMP®) and Master Property Manager (MPM®) are the designations residential property owners recognize and seek. Any member or nonmember may take the RMP® or MPM® classes. Professional Members may seek candidacy for the designations. Residential Property Management Professional (RMP®) designation Requirements: Be a current member of NARPM. Be a currently licensed real estate agent for a period of not less than the 2 previous years. (If your state requires licensing.) Verification of 100 unit years of experience acquired over a minimum of two consecutive years. (One unit year equals management of 1 residential unit for 1 year.) Must manage a minimum of 25 residential units during candidacy period and at the time of achieving the designation. Successfully complete 18 hours of NARPM approved RMP® coursework, plus the NARPM Ethics course. Earn 50 elective points through service to NARPM. Attend at least one NARPM National Convention prior to completing candidacy. Submit sealed letters of recommendation from 2 RMP®s and 3 clients. Submit a completed candidacy checklist packet within 3 years of application date. The application fee is $150 and is nonrefundable. Master Property Manager (MPM®) designation Requirements: Be a current member of NARPM. Be a currently licensed real estate agent for a period of not less than the 5 previous years. (If your state requires licensing.) Have achieved the RMP® designation. Provide verification of 500 unit years of experience acquired over a minimum of 5 consecutive years. (One unit year equals management of 1 residential unit for 1 year.) Must manage a minimum of 50 units during and at completion of candidacy. Successfully complete 24 hours of NARPM approved MPM® coursework. Earn 150 elective points (beyond the RMP® points earned) through service to NARPM, local chapters and the property management industry. Attend at least two NARPM National Conventions prior to completing candidacy that were not counted for RMP® candidacy. Submit sealed letters of recommendation from 2 MPM®s and 3 clients. Submit a completed candidacy checklist packet within 3 years of application date. The application fee is $250 and is nonrefundable. Designations for Companies: CRMC®. Property management firms that are headed by an MPM® and that demonstrate the highest level of professionalism are eligible for the CRMC® designation. Companies who apply for this designation are consistently the leading firms in their geographical area. They understand that continued success only comes with advancement. Requirements: Have an MPM® designee on staff. Provide verification of 500 unit years of management experience. (One unit year equals management of 1 residential unit for 1 year.) Successfully complete an on-site visit from a NARPM auditor selected by the Certification Committee. Complete the audit process within three years of making application. The nonrefundable application fee is $500 and is the total cost for the first three years. (The onsite auditor is paid $300 of the application fee for their services.) After the first three years have passed, annual renewal costs $150 per year. Designations for Support Specialist: CSS®. Certified Support Specialist (CSS®) professionals work in an organization with a NARPM member who has earned the RMP® or MPM® designation. Those individuals are actively engaged in supporting the company’s property managers are eligible to earn the CCS® designation. These are the staff members who make their interest in contributing to the well being of their employer’s company known by their actions - and not just their words. Certified Support Specialist (CSS®) designation The CSS® designation is the newest certification available from NARPM. NARPM seeks to become the dominant source for educating and training Support Specialist in the residential property management industry. A properly trained, well-educated staff member will return untold profits to your bottom line. Virtually all requirements of the CSS® Certification can be earned at the local level. Three educational courses that are currently in development will be required to earn this designation.
